卡萨布兰卡，这首歌曲的创作和演唱者是著名音乐人BertieHiggins（贝特·希金斯），他是18世纪德国著名诗人歌德的后代，出生于美国佛罗里达州，在他的青少年时期，著名电影演员和导演理查德·布尼发现了他的写作才能，指导他创作电影剧本，后来希金斯把这些才能运用到了他的歌曲创作中。
当年，希金斯创作的歌曲《基拉戈》取得了美国歌曲排行榜第一名，被CBS和索尼唱片公司在全球发行。《卡萨布兰卡》（casablanca）并不是电影《卡萨布兰卡》（又名《北非谍影》）里的插曲，而是上世纪70年代由BertieHiggins（贝特·希金斯）在看完这部电影后有感而写出的，用的是电影的名字。
有人认为《casablanca》是电影《广岛之恋》的插曲，其实不然——《广岛之恋》是五十年代的电影，而《casablanca》80年代才正式发行。《广岛之恋》中倒是有个场景，即男女主角在一个名为“casablanca”的酒吧内相见。
